Does anyone else have the problem with their car door hitting the garage? My kids are always whacking the car door against the garage. Both my husband and I are tired of always telling them to be careful that we decided it was time to solve the problem with a car door guard.
This is an easy and inexpensive way to protect your car door.
Supplies:
– Pool Noodle
– 1″ x 2″ board
– Screws
TOTAL cost is maybe $5.
After gathering our supplies, we measured the distance that we wanted to cover. We decided to make sure both doors would not hit against the garage. Then we screwed the board to the framing of the garage.
Next we took a razor knife and sliced the pool noodle right down the middle. We only made one cut.
Then we took the noodle and wrapped it around the 1″ x 2″ board. You may have to cut a little bit more where the framing is.
Now our doors will hit the squishy noodle not the wood. And another nice thing is that if the noodle gets damaged it’s really easy to change out.
Does anyone else have any troubles with their car door hitting the garage?
LOVE the creativity and reuse/repurpose of materials!
Thanks J.C. Johnna, we are really enjoying it…
That is a great idea. We have a pole in the middle of our garage and need to get it covered.
Thanks, it’s an easy and cheap solution.
