House Project Goals for 2016

As promised last week, let’s talk about our house project goals for 2016. Can you believe it’s 2016??? I can not… Anyways, for our house goals this year we want to try to get a little bit closer to finishing things in our basement. So our biggest goals for 2016 is to get one bedroom finished in the basement (green room), replace all the windows in the basement (this will require cutting into the foundation), and finish all the drain plumbing in the house (if you remember we did most of it last year, here). There are of course other projects we plan on completing but these are the big ones with the amount of funds we plan on having. If we have more funds than planned, more projects will be completed. I really hope we have more funds…

And because I had to add a picture here is a picture from our biggest most expensive project last year, redoing our plumbing.

But here is the big list of things we would like to complete in the year 2016. OK there are two lists the bottom list is a list of things for if we have more funds than planned. 

• update master closet
• rework bathroom/hallway cupboard
• repaint kitchen walls
• paint ceiling in master bedroom, kids room, hallway, and kitchen
• organize spice cabinet in kitchen
• add recessed lights to kitchen and remove old ceiling lights
• update living room closet
• add artwork to kids room
• build porch planter box
• replace mailbox
• fix water coming into basement
• build backyard gate
• add shelving to bathroom (upstairs)
• redo bathroom light (upstairs)
• redo bathroom mirror (upstairs)
• add shelving in living room
• decorate living room
• demo the red room downstairs
• egress some basement windows
• replace all basement windows
• build a closet for bedroom downstairs (green room)
• remodel the green room in the basement
  • insulate room
  • update electrical plus add recessed lights
  • add drywall
  • add flooring
• redo bathroom drain stack (the rest of the way)
• repaint walls in red room in basement with waterproofing paint

THE extra list –

• redo main water lines
• move water heater & water softener
• move laundry
• redo electrical for house
• redo duck work
• replace furnace & A/C
• insulate basement
• add drywall to basement

We really hope we can do everything on these two lists but we are going to prioritize our time/money and work mainly on the first list. Does anyone else have or do a home project listing for the year?
