Our bathroom is one of those spaces that we want to demo. I have had this urge a lot lately with other spaces. For example I almost ripped out the old kitchen floor, I had the tools in hand… The only thing that held me back was thinking what would Eric say coming home to that?? And now I want to start demoing the basement. Plus yesterday I ripped out our kitchen backsplash (instagram). I have a problem. Do you think it’s because I am stuck inside with this cold weather? I really hope so!
Back to our problem the bathroom tile, I am getting a little tired of this tile because it’s cracked and the grout keeps breaking up. I have already re-grouted this floor twice since living in our house.
So I thought of a new temporary solution to our problem. And that solution is caulking instead of grouting. I think it’s brilliant but it’s only temporary…
First I removed all the cracked and broken grout then cleaned the area.
Next I applied an almond colored silicone caulk, this caulk is made for bathrooms. Then I let it dry overnight.
You can see a difference between the grout and caulk but I don’t care as long as it fixes our problem.
We would love to replace the whole floor but we are waiting until we finish the basement bathroom. Which could be a couple more years.
Anyone else need to replace their bathroom floor? Or do you have the urge to demo something?
