It’s almost the weekend, is anyone else excited? Today, we are talking about prepping our windows for paint. If you missed it or forgot, here is our tutorial for installing window trim. 
After we installed the window trim, we needed to fill in all the nail holes, sand the wood, then caulk the gaps.

Supplies:
– Wood Filler (you can also use spackling paste)
– Putty Knife
– Sandpaper (I used my Orbital Sander)
– Caulk
– Paper Towels
– H2O (water)
The first step is filling in the nail holes. To do this, I used a stainable wood filler but you can also use a spackling paste. 
After filling in all the nail holes and believe me there was a lot, someone got a little excited with the nail gun… But I am not naming any names because I am really glad he helped and he was just making sure the wood would stay. Anyways, after filling in the nail holes, I sanded the wood with an orbital sander. 
Then I wiped the wood and windows clean, this way the caulk would have a clean surface. I then applied the caulk (I use the Dynaflex 230) to all the gaps and where the wood comes together with the windows/wood/walls. 
TIP: To get a cleaner caulk line, place some paper towel in a bowl then add some water. As you are caulking, wet your finger and smooth the caulk bead. I also use a dry paper towel to wipe my finger and remove excess caulk. 
All the gaps are now filled in.

Now the trim is all ready for paint…
